Vertical farming is an innovative farming technique that provides year round freshly grown local produce to every community, small villages and large cities alike. The microgreens are grown on lighted shelving units indoors in a controlled environment that eliminates the need for herbicides, pesticides and other chemicals for pest control. The result is beautiful fresh organic microgreens presented in clam shells uncut and ready to eat. Being uncut extends the shelf life.
At Guneden we currently grow: spicy mix, pea shoots, sunflower shoots, green basil, red basil, alfalfa, wheatgrass and garlic chive.
Microgreens begging to be harvested for soups, salads and casseroles promise only the finest ingredients to enhance the fare of every meal.
Our microgreens can be found at upscale restauransts around Cape Breton Island and at the Cape Breton Food Hub.
